You may be asking: who is Viktor "BlackSmith," and what's in the sweepstake? Let me start by telling you Viktor’s story—one of immense courage, leadership, and an unyielding spirit.

On September 1st, 2024, Viktor "BlackSmith" led an infantry mission in Chasiv Yar, Ukraine, when his unit came under heavy mortar fire. Showing remarkable leadership, Viktor ensured his men reached safety before seeking cover himself. The barrage seemed endless, with minor shrapnel injuries sustained by a few soldiers. But just as the dust settled, one final mortar round struck Viktor directly in the legs.

Despite the devastating injury, Viktor stayed conscious, unaware of the full extent of his wounds. His men quickly sprang into action, evacuating him within 40 minutes to a hospital. During the ride, Viktor—standing 6'2" and weighing 100kg—was bewildered by how his body fit sideways in the truck, noting grimly that his legs “looked like confetti.”

He was transferred to Dnipro, where both legs were amputated above the knee, and later moved to Kyiv, where he now awaits his next battle: recovery and return to the front lines.

Why This Matters

Viktor requires a specialized procedure known as osseointegration, performed by a renowned surgeon in Sydney, Australia. Once completed, he intends to return to military service. Viktor "BlackSmith" is a warrior, a leader, and one of the most driven individuals we’ve ever met. His story isn’t just about recovery—it’s about returning to fight for the country he loves.

We’ve coordinated his medical evacuation from Kyiv to Warsaw, where he will receive care for his open wounds before boarding a 24-hour flight to Sydney. There, the surgery will take place, followed by a two-week recovery before Viktor returns to Kyiv for further rehabilitation and prosthetic fitting.

We need to raise $100,000 USD to begin the surgery, with an additional $53,000 USD due over the following month. We’re halfway to our goal, but we can’t do it without you.
